10|Before First Flight ・Unboxing and Parameter Setup
This controller has been pre-configured and tested before delivery. In principle, the settings are already stored. However, please verify the following.
In most cases, once you have received the remote controller and completed the pairing setup, it should be ready to use.
However, there has been at least one case in which a user logged into their own account and this caused all remote controller settings to be reset.
For this reason, we strongly recommend that before flight, you carefully check all settings again, especially the gimbal-related parameters, to ensure that the Panometrix module can operate normally.
In DJI Fly App, configure the following:
- Enter Gain & Expo Tuning, select Normal mode
- Set Max Angular Velocity to 90°/sec
- Set Yaw Smoothness to 2
- Set Tilt Control Speed to 100°/sec
- Set Tilt Smoothness to 2
- Adaptive Gimbal Speed must be set to Adaptive — do not change this setting
Except for the parameters listed above, all other settings must remain at default values. Do not modify additional parameters.
This controller is intended to be used as a dedicated controller for matrix panorama capture.
If different control feel or custom tuning is needed for other types of flight or video work, please use your original standard RC2 / RC 2 Pro or a separate controller.

Essential Shooting Setup and Workflow
This short video is designed to help you quickly understand the basic shooting setup and workflow in just 8 minutes. It was generated with NotebookLM as a fast and easy introduction, so you can get a clear overview before reading the full manual. If you are new to the system, this is the best place to start.
1. Install basic accessories
Only install the aluminum rear bracket and (optional) aluminum mini tripod gimbal mount if needed.
Do NOT install the 0.65× ultra-wide lens or ND filters for PanoMatrix multi-row capture — they are not compatible with automated panorama shooting.
2. Power on RC2 and link the drone (first-time pairing required)
For the very first use:
• Turn on RC 2
• Turn on Mavic 4 Pro
• Perform aircraft–controller linking (pairing)
Once paired, future connections will be automatic.
3. Set Flight Mode (Normal)
On the DJI RC 2, set the central flight-mode switch (directly below the PanoMatrix module) to:
- Center position → Normal (N) ← Recommended
- Left position → Cine (C)
- Right position → Sport (S)
Set Normal (N) mode during PanoMatrix automated capture to maintain stable gimbal movement.
4. [One-time setup.] In DJI Fly — Select Pilot Stick Mode
Choose Controller Mode 1 / Mode 2 / Mode 3, based on your flying habits.
5. [One-time setup.] In DJI Fly — Confirm gimbal settings
These are pre-configured, but verify if needed:
• Enter Gain & Expo Tuning, select Normal mode
• Set Max Angular Velocity to 90°/sec
• Set Yaw Smoothness to 2
• Set Tilt Control Speed to 100°/sec
• Set Tilt Smoothness to 2
• Adaptive Gimbal Speed must be set to Adaptive — do not change this setting
6. In DJI Fly — Select the Camera lens
Choose 1×, 2.5×, or 6× according to your intended capture mode.
7. In DJI Fly — Set Photo Mode parameters
Switch to Single Photo mode, then confirm:
• Manual ISO
• Manual shutter
• Manual aperture (when applicable)
• Format: DNG
• Aspect Ratio: 4:3 or 3:2 (required for full resolution)
• Free storage ≥ 40 GB
8. In DJI Fly — Verify gimbal starting angle
Before starting a PanoMatrix sequence:
• Press C1 button twice → gimbal resets to level (0°)
• Exception: For 1× lens sky capture mode, tilt the gimbal up to +70° (first-generation firmware only). With firmware V2.0 or later no manual tilt is needed — keep the gimbal level.
9. Turn on the PanoMatrix module
Switch ON the hardware power (indicator LED will light up). To stop a running sequence on firmware V2.53, press and hold the Mode button for 5 seconds — the module aborts the capture and returns to the program menu. On first-generation firmware the only way to stop was to switch the power off; the module powers back on about two seconds later.
10. Start the capture sequence
On the module interface:
Choose 1× / 2.5× / 6× → press START.
11. Do not touch the controller during operation
The full 360 multi-row sequence is fully automated.
12. Turn up the speaker volume
Monitor audible progress tones until completion.
New AEB Capture Mode
Phase 1: Hardware Setup & Pre-Flight Checks
- Mount the Controller: Secure the DJI RC 2 controller on a stable tripod using the aluminum gimbal mounting bracket located on the back of the remote.
- Power On: Turn on the controller and your DJI Mavic 4 Pro. Ensure the drone battery is at least 85% before starting a full 6x AEB mission.
- Set Flight Mode: Locate the physical flight mode switch on the top of the remote controller screen and set it to the center position: Normal (N) mode. Do not change this during the capture.
- Maximize UI Outputs: Turn the RC screen brightness to the maximum. Turn the speaker volume to the maximum and enable the shutter sound. This allows you to continuously monitor the capture progress via audio.
Phase 2: App Initialization & Gimbal Tuning (One-Time Setup)
Set your stick mode to control your flight.
- Gimbal Parameters: In the DJI Fly App, navigate to Gain & Expo Tuning -> Normal Mode. Set the following parameters strictly:
- Max Angular Velocity: 90°/sec
- Yaw Smoothness: 2
- Max Control Speed (Tilt): 100°/sec
- Tilt Smoothness: 2
- Adaptive Camera Motion: Must remain on Adaptive
- Camera Settings & Aspect Ratio:
- Format: Set to RAW (DNG) and use internal storage for stable writing speed.
- Exposure: Use Manual exposure. Lock your ISO (e.g., 100), Shutter Speed (≥ 1/150s), and White Balance.
- Aspect Ratio (Mandatory): Set the 1x lens to 3:2. Set the 2.5x and 6x lenses to 4:3. Never use 16:9, as it will result in a failed panorama stitch.
Phase 3: The AEB Camera Preparation
- Enable AEB Manually: If you plan to use the new AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) modes, you must manually switch the camera’s photo mode to "AEB" (e.g., 3, 5, or 7 shots) inside the DJI Fly App before interacting with the PanoMatrix module.
- Gimbal Starting Angle Warning: Keep the gimbal at a normal, level forward-looking angle. Do not manually tilt the gimbal straight down or straight up. The V2.53 firmware will automatically re-center the gimbal to the 0° horizon upon starting.
Phase 4: PanoMatrix Module Execution
- Power On the Module: Switch on the PanoMatrix hardware module using the power toggle located on the top.
- Select Program: On the module, use the Mode button (located on the right) to navigate through the second-row menu and select your desired AEB program (e.g., 6X-V-AEB, 2.5X-V-AEB, or 1X-V-AEB) .
- Set Capture Interval (AEB programs only): Because an AEB program records several frames at each position, firmware V2.53 asks for a time delay between positions. The original firmware has no such setting. The recommended intervals are:
- 7 seconds for 1x-V-AEB
- 3 seconds for 2.5x-V-AEB
- 3 seconds for 6x-V-AEB
- Start the Capture: Press the Start button (located on the left) to confirm and execute.
- Hands OFF: Once the sequence begins, take your hands completely off the joysticks and the screen. Any manual input will disrupt the automated path and cause missed frames.
Phase 5: Emergency Pause & Post-Flight Backup
- Pause and Resume : If an emergency occurs, press the Mode button (right) once to pause the sequence (the screen will display "pause"). Press the Start button (left) to resume the mission.
- Cancel Mission: To completely cancel a mission, press and hold the Mode button (right) for 5 seconds. The module aborts the sequence and returns to the program menu (firmware V2.53 and later; on first-generation firmware the module’s power had to be cut instead).
- Immediate Backup: After landing, do not delete any files immediately. Connect the drone to a high-capacity SSD and verify the total image counts to ensure a flawless capture before powering down.
